Purpose and positivity conference

STUDENTS VOW TO LIVE A PURPOSEFUL, POSITIVE AND ADDICTION-FREE LIFE.

It was a day to remember for students and other members of Sainte Bernadette community as they promised themselves to discover who they are and start leading a positive life that is in line with their purpose by distancing themselves from all the addictions that stand in their way towards a purposeful and positive life.

This was after the Purpose and Positivity Conference that was organized and facilitated by Purpose Rwanda – a Non-Government Organization whose mission is “to create a purposeful and positive oriented mindset towards realizing self-sustainability and socioeconomic transformation among the citizens”. The conference took place on Saturday, 24th October 2015 at the school premises.

The conference mainly focused on the theme, “Living a purposeful, positive and addiction free life”. Different presentations were made but all focusing on the day’s theme.

One of the facilitators, Muhirwa Wilson who presented the topic, “A purposeful and addiction free life”, explained how most people have been unable to fulfill their purpose because of the various addictions in their lives. He also highlighted the problems which people, especially the youth face with as a result of different addictions, such as watching soccer, pornography and fornication, internet, gossiping, shopping among others.
Suggestions were made on how to break away from addictions so as to be able to live to our purpose.

After a number of interactive sessions from the facilitators on different topics, the students vowed to break away from their addictions and live a purposeful, positive and addiction free life.

A purpose and positivity club was formed at the end of the conference, through which the club members will act as ambassadors of Purpose Rwanda in spearheading the Purpose and Positivity campaign.

Purpose Rwanda engages in various activities including Outreach– meant to reach out to universities/colleges, secondary schools and primary schools in a bid to lay a foundation of Purpose and Positivity among the student’s lives, a program that is believed to play a big role in laying a country’s future through having a Purposeful and positive young generation.

This Purpose and Positivity Conference was the first ever of its kind in Rwanda and it was hosted by Groupe Scolaire Sainte Bernadette – Save, the first girls’ school in Rwanda which started in 1938.
